I'm wondering why the airport designators in the PIREP section are listed as the local airport codes? Shouldn't these codes be in ICAO format?

I can see why Delta would use local codes since only the addition of the "K" in the U.S. changes it to ICAO, but if we are flying internationally in Europe as Air France the code is a change quite a bit from CDG, DUS, HAM, etc.

I bring this up because so many programs use the International code instead of local. ServeInfo, SB flight plans, METAR information, etc. Jep Charts and Euro charts also have the ICAO code for all facilities as well.

I think I have lined up a volunteer to provide ICAO codes for all existing AFV and DVA airports. The big question is how I'm going to support ICAO codes in the PIREP form. I think I have an idea.

Cheers!
