49 | 01/19/2023 | Equipment Use in Flight Tours - Updated |
Effective Date: January 19, 2024 Scope: All pilots NOTAM: In order to make flight tours more accessible to all pilots, we have decided to relax the normal requirements for using equipment types for flight tours. This means that if you want to fly a tour that requires a long flight, then we will allow pilots to use an appropriate equipment type for the route regardless of their rating with the following conditions:
The purpose of this NOTAM is to notify everyone of this change and to allow more flexibility to those pilots who are just starting out and want to participate in our flight tours. Read each flight tour briefing carefully to determine if this NOTAM applies to each specific tour. Best, AFVA/KLM Staff |

48 | 01/09/2023 | MSFS Additional Aircraft Authorization Ending February 1st |
Effective Date: February 1, 2023
Scope: All pilots who use MSFS NOTAM: Following the release of MSFS 2020, we added the Citation Longitude and TBM 930 as a temporary authorization for pilots who use the new simulator. The purpose of this original authorization was to allow more flexibility while there were few aircraft choices available for MSFS. In the initial authorization, it was stated that this was temporary until there was more availability for adding in the MSFS platform. After reviewing the current state of the platform as it has matured more, we have decided to end the temporary authorization effective February 1st. Any flight reports between now and February 1st using these two aircraft are allowed, but after February 1st we will be removing the types and flight reports with them will no longer be accepted. Keep in mind the original rules still apply: these two aircraft are ONLY allowed in MSFS. |

46 | 05/19/2021 | Charter Policy Update 5/19/2021 |
This NOTAM adds on to the charter policy from NOTAM#44.
The new policy is to address the addition of a new "Request Charter Flight" form on the website, and to update the previous procedure. The rules stated in NOTAM 44 are still in effect with the following modifications: 1) Bailout Charters and single leg charters will use the new form on the website INSTEAD of a Help Desk ticket, using the Comments section to state your reason for requesting the charter. 2) Full charters with more than one leg or legs that include non-scheduled airports will still require a Help Desk ticket to be submitted in the same format as before. This NOTAM is to clarify the update to the website, and make pilots aware of the new feature. Also, be sure to reference NOTAM 44 for the rest of the charter rules. 45 | 08/17/2020 | MSFS Support (Updated) |
Update - ACARS support has been implemented for all AFVA flights. Please make sure to update your ACARS to at least ACARS 3.4 Build 150 Beta 15. This is the first version that incorporates MSFS Support. Manual PIREPs for MSFS (showing a different sim) will be accepted until MSFS support has been released as Build 151
With the much-anticipated release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on the 18th August, there will be no ACARS support for this sim due to compatibility issues between MSFS and ACARS and the lack of FSUIPC or Simconnect support at release, If you want to use the new sim to fly AFVA flights these can be submitted as a MANUAL PIREP, and you must add the comment "MSFS2020". Note: All Normal flight rules apply (Flight in the schedule, you are airframe type rated etc). |

44 | 05/28/2018 | New Air France/KLM Charter Policy Effective May 28th 2018 (UPDATED JUNE 21, 2022) |
PLEASE READ IN FULL AND CAREFULLY
This policy supersedes and replaces NOTAM#32 previously in effect. This updated charter policy is designed to give you, the pilots more freedom when requesting charter flights The process starts of course with the Pilot(s) requesting a charter via the Help Desk which is the correct procedure of course. From May 28th 2018 there are going to be changes to charter rules (UPDATED June 21, 2022). There will be two options available, the bailout charter (For connected logbook pilots) and the full charter The Connecting Logbook Bail Out charter is aimed at Pilots flying connecting logbooks and are unable to continue this due to arriving at an airport with no outbound flights or needing to tick off an unvisited airport with no inbound flights. If this happens you are permitted to execute a Bail Out Charter – HOWEVER, you will only be returned to your last departure airport for example if you flew Paris CDG to Oslo but there was no return flight, the Bail Out Charter will send you back from Oslo to Paris CDG, you will NOT be permitted to fly to any other destination period, if you wish to fly out to somewhere else then that is perfectly fine however you will need to request a full charter Please be aware that we need up to 48 hours notice for a charter request, so plan ahead. It may not take 48 hours but please remember staff are not permanently on hand to deal with help desk tickets How to request a Bail Out Charter? Simply go to the Help Desk and enter BAIL OUT CHARTER Request in the subject and tell me where you are stuck or will be stuck and where you have/will be flying in from I will then just send you back to that destination – Job Done. Full Charter 1) The full charter is where you request flights that are not in the schedules. 2) The charter can be from anywhere to anywhere, there is however a max of 10 legs per charter request. 3) Any charter request above 10 legs will be at Senior Staff discretion so may or may not be approved, please provide a detailed reason for the request to give us all the information we need to make a justifiable decision on whether to grant the charter or not. 4) Each pilot will only be able to request 10 charter legs every two months (Excluding bailout charters) 5) It must contain a number of airports, from which at least 50% of the airports must be airports AFVA and partners currently operates scheduled flights to. 6) It must NOT contain any military airfields or aerodromes. To process a full charter we will need the following information. 1) Date you wish to start the charter 2) Aircraft Frame you will fly during the charter (These can be substituted on the actual flights) 3) Details of each leg of the charter 4) Your reason for requesting the charter OK that’s the 4 mandatory bits I need, if any of them are missing your charter will not be issued, it will be your responsibility to insure all the information is correct. If any data is missing I will reject it there and then, I will not chase you for the information. The following is MANDATORY when requesting a full charter Full Airport Name Country IATA Code (3-letter) ICAO Code (4-letter) Time Zone We need that information for all Airports you intend to visit even if the Airport is already served. This information is what we need to add airports to the database should you request a destination not already in the system. IF none or only part of the information above is not provided then the request will be denied. Below is an example on what the layout of the request should look like. Example (Help Desk Subject) – Full Charter Request – (Pilots Name and PID) Hi, can I request a full charter. Start Date – 28th May 2018 Aircraft – Boeing 787-9 Number of Legs – 5 ---- Paris CDG – Montreal – San Francisco – Honolulu – Sydney. Reason for the Charter – I am flying this route in Real World and would like to recreate it in flight sim Airport Details. Paris Charles de Gaulle France CDG LFPG CET (GMT +1) Montreal-Dorval Quebec Canada YUL CYUL ET (GMT -5) San Francisco California USA SFO KSFO PT (GMT -8) Honolulu Hawaii USA HNL PHNL Hawaii (GMT -10) Sydney Australia SYD YSSY NSWT (GMT +10) Thank you for your time, look forward to your response. PLEASE NOTE – Once a charter is in your logbook you have 14 days to fly it, it must be flown connected and no other flights can be logged until it is complete Kind Regards Brian Hankey Silvian Baltac Paul Hale Senior Staff Air France/KLM Virtual Airlines |

43 | 10/16/2017 | Changes to current NOTAMs and AFVA Operational Policies |
As the AFVA Senior Staff recognises changes in technology and operational policy of the Virtual Airline, this NOTAM completes, updates and supersedes the information contained in the previous NOTAMs, as follows:
1) NOTAM 42 regarding Concorde flights: In order to avoid confusion, the there-mentioned AFH Concorde Flights (9201-9240) are now renamed and collectively contained under the Air France Concorde (AFC) airline indicative. The Concorde remains the only type allowed to be flown on AFC flights. 3) NOTAM 34 regarding the clean speeds on long-hauls operated by Heavy aircraft AFVA now allows that any flight in a heavy aircraft (747, 767, 777, 787, A330, A340, A350, A380, MD-11 + historical type ratings) over 6 hrs (not 5.7, 5.8 or 5.9) will be allowed to exceed 250 in clean configurations (flaps/slats up) with a 10% grace margin. This would allow pilots to fly up to 275 KIAS in clean under 10,000 feet. The pilots will be required to cite the clean speed in the comments section. This also applies only to climb out but not descent or landing. Anything more than 275 KIAS will be held for an explanation with possibility of rejection. 4) NOTAM 22 regarding AFVA Diversion Policy: a. AFVA now accepts return to the origin airport due to mechanical failure or bad weather at destination. The landing must be performed safely and the aircraft must not be overweight. b. diversions due to low fuel levels are allowed as long as the pilot recognises the issue in due time and lands with the legal reserves. An investigation in the low-fuel event will be conducted and the flights will be approved on an one-to-one basis. c. Pilots must divert to only suitable airports for the flown airframe and must continue to the initial destination airport in order to gain credit for the diversion. d. Pilots must file two PIREPs for the diversion event: one from the origin to the diversion airfield followed by a separate report from the diversion airport to the original destination. Landings followed by on-ground refuelling and subsequent take-offs in the same PIREP will not be allowed. 5) NOTAM 20 regarding X-Plane use on AFVA flights: This NOTAM has been CANCELLED as the advances in ACARS now allow X-Plane compatibility, making it possible to use X-Plane to file regular PIREP and during Check Rides. The latest version on our ACARS can be downloaded from our fleet library and a full installation and X-Plane troubleshooting guide can be found on our Forums. Please refer to the mentioned NOTAMs for any other operational rules that may still be in place. AFVA Senior Staff |

42 | 02/27/2015 | New Concorde Flights |
All,
Following the introduction of 239 new Concorde legs yesterday it was felt that we needed a new NOTAM to cover the rules of these flights. These legs represent the real life Air France round the world tours that operated in the 1990's and early 2000's, they were unique, one off flights but as they have been flown in real life we could add them to our Historical schedule. Please note, due to the uniqueness of these flights, Senior Staff and Operations Staff decided that these legs can only be flown with Concorde and no other airframe. Flights AFH9201-AFH9240 are the flights in question. Flying these trips with any aircraft other than Concorde will result in a held PIREP with rejection the likely outcome. Some of these trips are very long and with a good deal of subsonic cruise, although Concorde made these trips in real life, we are currently unsure of how fuel burns etc will work in the simulation world. If you are flying one of these trips and fuel becomes a big issue, please divert to the nearest suitable diversion airfield and file your flight then continue on from the diversion airport to your destination with the next leg, staff will then view the reports and judge each one on its own merits. This should only be an issue on a handful of these legs and may not affect any at all, I will be testing a few of the longer trips in the next week myself and will change some rules only if needed. Enjoy the flights, Paul Hale Vice President Of Operations Air France/KLM Virtual Airlines |

41 | 01/11/2015 | New charter rules |
All,
The Charter office has been closed since before christmas and we are now ready to open up with a few rule changes. All rules from NOTAM 32 will still be in effect with the exception of the following changes: Only one charter will be granted every 3 months instead of the original rule of 1 per month. Charters will be for a maximum of 10 legs unless there is a good reason for requesting more legs and the decision will then be at the discretion of Senior staff as to whether the request is granted or denied. Charters need to be booked in the exact same way as instructed in NOTAM 32 via a help desk ticket with all information still required. Bailout charters will still remain as they are and can be requested at any time when a pilot with a connected logbook needs to be bailed out. Best regards, Paul Hale Vice President Of operations Air France/KLM Virtual Airlines |

40 | 11/01/2014 | Freighter Range |
With the "Cargo Hauler" accomplishment significantly increasing the usage of Freighter variants at AFVA, it is important to note that Freighter variants of aircraft generally have a shorter maximum range than the passenger versions.
All Freighters that we have access to have had their ranges checked in their individual aircraft profiles to be accurate and as such with immediate effect any PIREP's that are submitted exceeding the published range will be held with the possibility of rejection. Statistics have been taken from a variety of sources including official Boeing documentation so should be accurate or very close to accurate, however if you spot any discrepancies please email me with a link to your source and i will look into correcting the values. Freighter ranges are as follows:- B747-200F, 3615 Nautical Miles B747-400F, 4445 Nautical Miles B747-400ERF, 4970 Nautical miles B767-300F, 3226 Nautical Miles B777-200F, 4899 Nautical Miles DC10-30F, 3276 Nautical Miles MD11-F, 3952 Nautical miles Best Regards, Paul Hale Vice president Of Operations. |

39 | 09/19/2014 | London City (EGLC / LCY) Operations Reminder |
Updating a Forum post from September 2013, we are upgrading this to a full NOTAM to ensure that all pilots are aware.
While we like to give you as much freedom as possible when flying with AFVA, At London City Airport we operate a Real World policy due to the nature and uniqueness of this airport. To qualify for PIREP approval an aircraft should fit into one of the Airport’s Noise Categories and be capable of making an approach at 5.5 degrees or steeper (this compares with 3 degrees at most other airports). The following list are the ONLY aircraft you are permitted to fly into and out of London City whilst logging an AFVA flight. Airbus A318 BAE 146/Avro RJ family BAE 41 Jetstream ATR 72 Bombardier Q Series/DHC Dash 8 Dornier Do328 Embraer 120 Embraer 135 Embraer 145 Embraer 1705 Embraer 175 Embraer 195 Embraer 190 Fokker 50 Fokker 70 Saab 340 Saab 2000 Use of ANY other Airframe will lead to a held flight and Probable PIREP rejection. |
||
38 | 06/15/2014 | Winair Codeshare Flights. |
Please note that all Winair flights must be flown with the new DHC6 Twin Otter rating.
This is due to the nature of the airports and runway lengths involved. Any Winair flight that is not flown with the DHC6 will be held with the possibility of being rejected. Enjoy the flights. Best regards, Paul Hale Vice President Of Operations, Air France/KLM virtual airlines. phale@afva.net |

37 | 05/22/2014 | Flights to Madagascar, New Caledonia and French Polynesia |
The following NOTAM will take effect immediately.
While we like to offer all of out pilots the freedom to fly any aircraft they are rated in on any given route, we felt that the rules needed to be changed for the above destinations. This is due to the fact that we have seen recent examples of pilots flying unsuitable aircraft into Madagascar, New Caledonia and French Polynesia. After staff discussions the following rules will now apply moving forwards:- Madagascar: There are a wide variety of different runway surfaces in Madagascar (Asphalt/Concrete,Dirt,Sand and Grass) The aircraft you choose to fly must be suitable for the surface it is landing/departing from and runway lengths must also be taken into consideration. New Caledonia and French Polynesia: All runways have Asphalt/Concrete surfaces but the majority of these are on small remote islands with short and very narrow runways, therefore aircraft selection is again vital. While it may be perfectly possible to land a heavy jet at one of these airports in flight simulator, It is extremely unrealistic to do so and would be impossible to turn around and backtrack to the terminal if needed, also the terminals and taxiways are not big enough to handle large jets. Please research the airports you are flying to before you fly and use suitable aircraft for your flights. This website is a great tool for finding out the information you may need http://www.gcmap.com/airport/FMMA Any use of aircraft deemed to be unsuitable when flying within the above destinations will result in the PIREP being put on hold with the possibility of the flight being rejected. Best Regards, Paul Hale Vice President Of Operations Air France/KLM Virtual Airlines. |
||
36 | 05/19/2014 | Time Acceleration |
Time Acceleration may be used on AFVA flights up to 2x, however the following rules apply:-
1. Time Acceleration use on qualifying flights towards Captaincy is allowed but the flight will count only as a normal leg , it will NOT give you leg credit towards becoming a Captain. To become eligible for the captains exam you are required to fly 10 legs with a minimum length of 150 Statute miles(This may vary from airframe to airframe) without ANY use of time acceleration. 2. Time Acceleration on Vatsim of 2x is allowed in uncontrolled airspace as long as it does not put any other aircraft in danger, If however you are in controlled airspace you must request permission from the controller to use time acceleration and wait for that request to be granted BEFORE use. Best Regards, Paul Hale, Vice President Of Operations, Air France/KLM Virtual Airlines |

35 | 09/07/2013 | Updated Concorde flight rules. |
This NOTAM overrules any other previous NOTAM's on Concorde Flight Rules at AFVA
Effective immediately the rules on supersonic Concorde flight will change. You will still NOT be permitted to fly Supersonic over land while flying Concorde, however each flight will now be graded on it's own merits rather than sticking to one hard and fast rule. • We will now take into consideration real world Concorde activity, and you will be able to fly over designated populated areas that were allowed in Concorde in real world operations. • Flying Supersonic overland will NOT be allowed under instruction from 3rd party ATC controllers (Vatsim, IVAO etc) As the Pilot in command you have the power to reject any such requests and to stay within the AFVA rules. • You can fly supersonic over unpopulated Islands but please do your research first and if in doubt message a member of staff for confirmation before making your flight. • Flights will not be rejected if you accidently cross land at low supersonic speeds but may be held for clarification as to why this happened. • You will now be able to apply for the Concorde rating as long as you are, or have previously been a stage 4 or stage 5 captain (Previously the rule was for stage 5 captains only). The reason for these rule changes is that Concorde used to be the flagship of the Air France fleet and flown very frequently within the airline but is not being widely used at AFVA at the current time. We hope that by relaxing the flight rules and entry requirements to become a Concorde rated pilot that this wonderful plane will again become a popular and regular visitor to our virtual skies. To request the Concorde rating please make sure you meet the requirements as stated above and then submit a help desk ticket.A member of staff will then issue you with the Concorde Checkride which needs to be flown within 14 days. Paul Hale Vice president, Operations Air France Virtual Airlines. |

34 | 05/31/2013 | 10000ft 250kts rule |
The following NOTAM will take immediate effect.
The 10000ft 250kt rules have been updated for all AFVA pilots. PIREPs with speeds between 250kts and 255kts will be approved and will be passed with no questions. Any PIREP with any significant breach above 250kts, the following may occur. 1) Immediate correction that is identified will be approved. 2) Consistent speed above 250, PIREP will be on hold for clarification and possible rejection. Short haul Flights: 250kts-255kts PIREP’s will be approved and will be passed with no questions. Any PIREP with any SIGNIFICANT breach above 250kts will be put on hold for clarification and possible rejection. Medium and Long haul flights: 250kts-255kts PIREP’s will be approved and will be passed with no questions. The rule for medium and long haul flights (Even in heavy aircraft) will be EXACTLY the same as that for short haul flights. Even if you are flying a 747 on a 7000 mile flight the 250kt/10000ft rule WILL still apply. The ONLY exception to this rule will now be if you are flying online (Vatsim or IVAO) and you are given permission by the ATC controller in charge of your airspace to proceed beyond 250 kts to be able to gain a clean configuration speed. If this happens it needs to be noted in the pilot’s comments section so the flight grader is aware of this happening. Any flights that are either offline or online (but not under the jurisdiction of ATC) must adhere to the 250kt/10000ft rule. If you are flying a heavy aircraft (747,777,MD11,A340 etc) you will need if necessary to use the minimum amount of flaps required to maintain 250 kts or below until passing 10000ft and then going into a clean configuration. This rule is being changed as it has been a “Grey Area” for some time now and is making it increasingly hard for flight graders to be consistent, by using a blanket 250kts/10000ft rule across the board consistency in flight grading will be assured on this particular rule. Note to Pilots. All though these guide lines have been issued this does not mean a pilot has the green light to fly 255kts on every PIREP he files, staff will be looking out for any trends and this will result in PIREP’S being put on hold. Pilots are asked to keep to the 250kt/10000ft rule wherever possible, if you fly your aircraft correctly none of the above will apply and your PIREP will be approved with no problems. 33 | 03/28/2013 | New Concorde Flight Rules |
This NOTAM supersedes any other NOTAM on Concorde Flight Rules
Effective from 1st April 2013 the rules on supersonic Concorde flight will change slightly. You will NOT be permitted to fly Supersonic over land at ANY point under any circumstances. Please note the following changes to our rules: • The AFVA rules on this supersede any real world rules that may have been in effect whilst Concorde was in active service. • AFVA rules also supersede any Instruction received from external sources (VATSIM etc.). • As the PIC (Pilot In Command), you are expected to adhere to the most stringent of the rules in place for a specific activity. • Please remember the maxim: Aviate then Communicate. Prior to accelerating to supersonic speed, you will need to be 50 miles away from land (this includes passing any populated islands during your flight. • Flights will not be rejected if the distance is not exactly 50 miles, but if you go supersonic 10 miles from the coastline you can expect a rejection. The reason for this rule is to prevent pilots from flying a route and “Hugging” the Coastline for the entire flight which would never have been accepted real world. If your route flies over unpopulated islands, Supersonic travel IS permitted while crossing these, however please do your homework before flying and make sure the Islands in question are not populated. Breaking any of the above rules will result in an instant PIREP rejection. |

32 | 03/19/2013 | New Air France Virtual Charter Policy eff April 1st |
Air France Virtual Airlines
Charter Policy PLEASE READ IN FULL AND CAREFULLY Thiis policy rescinds NOTAM#28 previously in effect. The process starts of course with the Pilot(s) requesting a charter via the Help Desk which is the correct procedure of course. From April 1st there are going to be TWO (2) types of charters which I will go into more detail in each section. Charter Version 1 – Connecting Logbook Bail Out. The Connecting Logbook Bail Out charter is aimed at Pilots flying connecting logbooks and are unable to continue this due to schedule mess up’s as most of you are aware China is all over the place in terms of schedules where there is a flight into an airport but not out again or no inbound but an outbound. So in order to serve them you’d have to either request a charter leg which would have been deducted from your allowance under the old system or break the logbook. NOT ANYMORE – Now if this happens you are permitted to execute a Bail Out Charter – HOWEVER there is a catch you will be returned to your last departure airport for example you flew Amsterdam to Aberdeen but there was no return flight, the Bail Out Charter will send you back to Aberdeen, you will NOT be permitted to fly to any other destination period, if you wish to fly out to somewhere else then that is perfectly fine however you will need to request a formal charter leg, and will be taken off your allowance. Please be aware that we need up to 48 hours notice for a charter request, so plan ahead. It may not take 48 hours but you have to remember that we are not here 24/7 and have other thing more important than charters. How to request a Bail Out Charter? – Simply go to the Help Desk and enter BAIL OUT CHARTER Request in the subject and tell me where you are stuck or will be stuck and where you have/will be flying in from I will then just send you back to that destination – Job Done. Charter Version 2 – Full Charter The full charter is basically like the old charter where you request flights that are not in the schedules. Now there was a reason for all the waffle above about how charters are dealt with by myself, the reason for the above was because the way in which you request the Full Charters is different and I will outline it below with an example charter request. Firstly the charter can be from anywhere to anywhere, there is however a max of 20 legs per charter request. We generally have upwards of 13,000 plus flights in our schedules on a given day, so the need for charters are for specially flights that are not covered. OK so we will look at the way in which the information I need to assess the request (PLEASE note that a charter is not a mandatory policy within the structure of the Airline, it is a special privilege we give the pilots so just requesting one does not automatically guarantee you will have it approved and I reserve the right to refuse the request on any grounds, including time constraints on my work schedule, see above how I have to process them and the time it takes. If you go and request a 20 leg charter that can be upwards of 2 hours work on my behalf and at the time I may be dealing with more pressing issues not to mention over chart requests). I need the following information. 1) Date you wish to start the charter – As I said above I need at least 48 hours notice so it is no good you wanting a charter on Wednesday if today is a Tuesday, so again Plan ahead. The further ahead the better as it gives me chance to get the information to your Log book in time. 2) Aircraft Type – I need a type of aircraft to add the data, this is just for clarity purposes you are not required to fly the type on the charter and can sub as you wish. 3) Legs – An obvious detail required – I am not a mind reader I need the airports you wish to fly too. Please see below for more information I require for this selection. 4) Reason – I need a reason why you want to fly this charter, this helps me decide whether or not to grant it. OK that’s the 4 mandatory bits I need, if any of them are missing your charter will not be issued, it will be your responsibility to insure all the information is correct. If any data is missing I will reject it there and then, I will not chase you for the information. OK NOW TO THE REALLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REQUIRED – If not complete your charter will be refused. As stated ate the begging of this essay I mentioned what it takes to add airports and charter legs and how long it takes me to do. I have a lot of work to do both Real World and Air France Virtual Airlines, and issuing charters is just a small part of the puzzle I also would like to fly on occasion if I can, so with that said, YOU are to help me to help you. The following is MANDATORY When requesting a charter you obviously need to provide me the Airports you wish to fly, so I need the following information for each airport laid out as below. Full Airport Name (If in the USA or Canada I need the State in which it is located) Country IATA Code (3-letter) ICAO Code (4-letter) Latitude Longitude Time Zone I need that information for all Airports you intend to visit REGARDLESS if the Airport is already served. All that information is what I need to add airports to the database should you request a destination not already in the system, now you will not be aware of what airport is in and which is not, so that is why I need it. I do not have the time to go searching for the information that is just for a charter request plain and simple, you want the charter then you are required to provide the information so it cuts my workload down. IF none or only part of the information above is not provided then the request will be denied. Below is an example on what the layout of the request should look like. Example (Help Desk Subject) – Full Charter Request – (Pilots Name and PID) Hi, can I request a full charter. Start Date – 15 September 2050 Aircraft – Boeing 797-600 Number of Legs – 5 ---- Paris CDG – Montreal – San Francisco – Honolulu – Sydney. Reason for the Charter – I am flying this route in Real World and would like to recreate it in FS. Airport Details. Paris Charles de Gaulle France CDG LFPG Lat- N49 0 46 Lon – E2 32 57 CET (GMT +1) Montreal-Doval Quebec Canada YUL CYUL Lat – N45 28 5 Lon – W73 44 27 ET (GMT -5) San Francisco California USA SFO KSFO Lat – N37 37 6 Lon – W122 22 30 PT (GMT -8) Honolulu Hawaii USA HNL PHNL Lat – N21 19 5 Lon – W157 55 19 Hawaii (GMT -10) Sydney Australia SYD YSSY Lat – S33 56 44 Lon – E151 10 32 NSWT (GMT +10) Thank you for your time, look forward to your response. OK seems a lot of work, but at the end of the day it is what I would have to do if I had to go and get the information personally, so please remember that. As I said before it will be your responsibility to obtain all the information required and if not all present it will be refused. OK that should be all… Just a few reminders. ALLOW UP TO 48 HOURS FOR PROCESSING. FILL IN ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION PLEASE NOTE – Once a charter is in your logbook you are required to fly the charter in full before continuing flying normal flights. If you break the charter string, your charter will be cancelled with immediate effect. I will be limiting the amount of 1 charter per pilot per calendar month from April 1st. Please remember also Full Charters will only be processed if time permits. Bail Out Charters will be approved automatically as it is a Schedule issue not a charter but again please plan ahead as 48 hours is request for those as well. Any further information you require please get in touch and I will answer them as best as I can, and if I do not know the answer I’ll make one up for you. Many Thanks Roger Taylor Executive Vice President Air France Virtual Airlines www.afva.net rtaylor@afva.net |

31 | 09/07/2011 | 747-800 Rating |
In an effort to ensure maximum realism, we wanted to remind pilots that although it is possible to fly the 747-800 in Flight Sim, it is not currently an authorised rating at AFVA. Once our real-world counter-parts confirm reception of a 747-800 into their fleets, we will take the appropriate steps to add it to our rating system.
Since this is a sub-variant of the 747, it goes without saying that the rating will be made available through the 747 program. Effective immediately, any PIREP submitted for a 747-8 flight will be rejected for incorrect equipment. |

30 | 03/18/2011 | New Online flight requirements |
Pilots,
In an effort to further refine our flight hour system, the staff is making some changes to the requirements for a flight to be considered online - a.k.a on VATSIM or IVAO. The requirements are listed below: 1. For flights 8 hours and under, you will be required to be online 75% of the time for your flight to count as online. 2. For flights 8 hours to 12 hours, you will be required to be online 50% of the time for your flight to count as online. 3. For any flights over 12 hours, you will only be required to be online 35% of the time for your flight to count as online. For example, if your flight is 10 hours in length you will need to be online for approximately 5 hours. We are making these changes to more accurately reflect the title of a flight being flown on VATSIM or IVAO. These changes will become effective Monday, March 21st, 2011. Questions should be directed to the Operations Department. Steve Orloff Vice President of Operations Air France Virtual Airline www.afva.net |

29 | 03/09/2011 | B737-700BBJ rating active |
Pilots,
Effective immediately, you will be required to file flight report with the equipment type B737-700BBJ1 for any flights outside of the normal B737-700's range. For example, if you were to fly KLM664 (KIAH - EHAM) you are now required to file the flight report using the B737-700BBJ1, instead of the B737-700 under the old system. All pilots currently in the B737 program have had their ratings updated. Any pilots earning the B737 ratings will also receive the B737-700BBJ1. All pilots currently rated in the B737 but NOT in the B737 program should create a help desk issue to get the B737-700BBJ1 added to their profile. Happy flying! 28 | 01/08/2011 | New AFVA charter policy |
To kick off the New Year, AFVA is altering its charter policy. Effective immediately, the criteria for charters is listed below:
1) To request a charter, you must create a help desk issue stating which route (s) you wish to fly and why you wish to fly them. 2) Before you can fly the charter, the flight must be loaded into your log book. To see if your charter has gone through, view your log book and look for your flight listed in green. 3) A pilot may fly no more than 2 charters a year. Additionally, these charters must be under 5 legs each. 4) Requested charters must be flown before any other flights can be flown. If you fly any flights outside of the charter while you have an active charter assigned, the current charter becomes null and void. 5) Only Senior Staff/Operations staff can approve a charter. We are not trying to limit where you can fly, but rather encourage you to explore all 12,000 plus routes in our database. Please direct any questions to the operations division. Happy flying! 27 | 04/17/2010 | Cargo Operations active |
Pilots,
Air France Virtual Airlines is proud to announce the beginning of our Cargo Operations! In conjunction with the real world Air France/KLM Cargo Operations, the B747-400ERF and the B777-200LRF profiles have been added to the website. These ratings will come with the B747 and B777 program ratings, respectively. Pilots already rated in the B747 and/or B777 have had the ratings added to their profile; there will not be a separate check ride or exam for the cargo variants. We are currently in the process of changing the equipment listed on cargo routes from passenger to cargo variants. However, any route can be flown with a cargo aircraft as long as the aircraft can safely make the flight. Remember, cargo aircraft have a much shorter range! Any questions should be directed to the operations department. |

26 | 03/25/2010 | NOTAM #19 Rescinded |
NOTAM #19 is hereby rescinded. The NOTAM required pilots to indicate Track Message Identifiers in the flight report comment block. Pilots are still encouraged to ensure they have the correct track message prior to trans oceanic flight, however, it is no longer required to indicate the TMI in the PIREP.
Please direct any questions to the Director of Operations. |

25 | 03/02/2010 | A380 fuel burn data |
Pilots,
Over the next 30 days, the AFVA staff will be updating the fuel burn figures on the A380. It has come to our attention that initial testing has put these values a bit too low, and they will need to be re-figured. Any A380 PIREP's submitted will not be held or rejected for fuel amounts until testing is completed and the A380 AOM is up to date with the new fuel figures. Thank you for your cooperation! Steve Orloff Director of Operations Air France Virtual Airlines |

24 | 03/01/2010 | A380 program officially open |
It is with great pleasure that I announce the A380 program is officially open. Effective 12:00 GMT, the exams, fleet installer, aircraft operating manual, and check ride will be fully online.
Leading the A380 program will be Brian Hankey. Brian is no stranger to the staff, having been the Assistant Chief Pilot for the CRJ-200 over at Delta Virtual Airlines. Please join me in welcoming Brian to his new role, and to celebrating the opening of the Airbus A380 program. Currently, in accordance with the Pilot Promotion Manual, all Stage 4 pilots are eligible to apply for transfer into the A380 equipment program, or to request additional type ratings. Additionally, the Senior staff is expanding this option to all Senior Captains, Stages 1 through 4. All AFVA Senior Captains will be eligible for transfer and/or additional type rating for the A380. 23 | 01/22/2010 | ACARS Policy |
Pilots,
Effective immediately Air France Virtual Airlines will no longer require pilots fly 100% of their flights on ACARS. However, listed below will be the stipulations attached to this rule. 1. Non-ACARS flights will not count towards required flight legs for promotion. 2. Promotion eligible flights shall be ACARS submitted, and comply with the 150NM minimum distance flight leg for promotion. 3. Manual PIREP's will be accepted. However, they must comply with all scheduling parameters (i.e. no off schedule flights without authorization from the Operations Department). Our ultimate goal here at AFVA is to provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere for all. We realize that our software will not immediately work on all computers, and we feel by relaxing this rule we will be giving you, the pilots, a better experience. Should you have any questions regarding this rule, please contact the operations department. Our e-mail can be found on the "Our Staff" section of the website. 22 | 10/26/2009 | AFVA Diversion Policy |
Pilots,
As of October 26th, 2009, AFVA has officially published our policy on diversions. Pilots that wish to have failures set will be allowed to file a flight report. There are a couple of pertinent points that you must keep in mind when the need to divert comes up: 1. AFVA will accept flight reports when the pilot needed to return to the origin airport. 2. Diversions because of fuel levels will NOT be accepted for credit. 3. Pilots that need to divert to another airport (one that is not their destination airport) must divert to an airport that is listed in our schedule. If a pilot needs to divert and there are no airfields in our schedule that are within range, pilots can divert to any suitable airfield; however, the flight report will not be accepted. The premise for this rule is the limitations of our ACARS program. 4. If a pilot successfully diverts to an airport in our schedule, the pilot must continue on from that airport to the original destination airport using the same call sign with the next subsequent leg number for either leg to count for credit. Should a pilot choose not to continue onto the original destination airport, the filed leg will be rejected. 5. Finally, pilots must detail in the ACARS comment block the nature of the failure causing diversion, as well as actions taken. Any questions regarding this policy can be directed to the Chief Operations Officer. Steve Orloff Chief Operations Officer |

20 | 03/02/2009 | Air France Virtual and X-Plane |
The following directive shall govern the use of X-Plane for participation within Air France Virtual Airlines:
1. The X-Plane platform and any related software will not be supported by AFVA in any technical manner. 2. AFVA members whose primary means of participation at AFVA is X-Plane may only submit PIREPs for those flights conducted on the VATSIM network. This is in lieu of ACARS, as it is not compatible with X-Plane. 3. Any discrepancy with a PIREP submitted by an X-Plane user shall be placed on hold and referred to a member of the Senior Staff. 4. Checkrides for promotion and additional rating requests must be coordinated on an individual basis between the pilot and the Chief Pilot or Assistant Chief Pilot who will be administering the checkride. 4(a). Due to lack of X-Plane support, the decision on the method used to conduct the above described checkride shall be at the discretion of the Chief Pilot or Assistant Chief Pilot. The Senior Staff will be available to advise the CP/ACP as necessary. //SIGNED// RYAN D. WATKINS, President Air France Virtual Airlines |

||
12 | 04/02/2007 | PIREP APPROVAL |
There have recently been approvals for PIREP's of questionable flight operations.
Stage four pilots landing at rates that would have the aircraft in the shop for months if not written off entirely. Thrust settings that would make an A&P tech's eyeballs fall out and requiring hot section overhaul. Before punching the approval button have a look at the aircraft performance and see that the pilot is operating the aircraft correctly within limitations. If you are not sure about a PIREP and/or are unfamiliar with the aircraft, place it on hold with a comment and refer it to the CP of that aircraft program as a 'head's up'. A little room can be given for the new guys and those in lower stage programs. For stage three and above I think that pilots should be held to a higher standard. We just don't hand out the keys to 747's without knowing how to fly the aircraft. Use your best judgement when looking over a PIREP and before approving it. |

7 | 12/13/2005 | Our new President and CEO |
One of my goals for Delta Virtual dating back to 2001 was to expand our community. SkyTeam partners Delta with a number of quality international airlines, which complement Delta in terms of route and fleet structures. Our first expansion in 2004 was to create this virtual airline, Aviation Francais Virtuel, based around Air France.
The success of AFV has been limited over the past year, but still present. Its existence ensure that our new web application platform was expandable, and with approximately 30 active pilots we are capable of surviving. Part of our weakness is due to upper management; we need passionate individuals focused on Air France and European navigation. Accordingly, on December 13th I will be resigning as the CEO of AFV. Michael Carter has proved to be a passionate, reliable addition to our airline in both a Chief Pilot and Vice-President role, and I am therefore turning the airline over to him to lead into 2006. Just like Delta Virtual did not finally take off until mid-2004 when I relinquished my role as CEO, I expect the same sort of wonderful growth to occur with AFV in the upcoming year. This airline does not deserve a part-time CEO; it needs someone whose primary focus is Air France and is dedicated to making us one of the best virtual airlines in the world. I am confident that Michael is capable of taking us to the next level, and I hope you will help him. My last official duty as your CEO is to recognize two pilots that have been dedicated AFV members for many months. I wish to congratulate Mark Sanderson and Nazim Karadig, as they become Senior Captains in the A320 and A330 programs. Please join me in congratulating Michael on his new role, and Mark and Nazim on their accomplishments. |

6 | 12/05/2005 | Important Fix for ServInfo when on the IVAO Network |
If you use ServInfo for display flight information, connecting to the network or voice servers, you need to read this and make the neccesary changes or ServInfo will bomb out every time...
This is from a post at the IVAO forum that fixes the ServInfo problem cause by IVAO changing their domain name. This fix will not hurt your computer or corrupt your software and is reversable at any time. "At this time, IVAE is still not modified to work with the new .aero domain, and perharps you have return to the old servinfo . If you don't want waiting for the new release, I have a solution to make the actual IVAE working with the new domain. This solution is only temporary, and IS NOT definitive (when the new IVAE will be delivered, you have to return to the original situation before this first-aid patch). First locate the hosts file on your windows system, it should be in \windows\system32\drivers\etc directory. Then change the read-only state to read/write of the file. Edit the hosts file with notepad, and add the following line at the end : 80.237.209.124 www.ivao.org (Do not cut and paste this. Type it in manually) This cause the IP name resolution system, to NOT use the DNS for the www.ivao.org address, but use the IP mentionned (and forced) in this file. The IP 80.237.209.124 is the new www.ivao.aero address. This IP can be checked, opening a Windows-Commands box and enter the following command : nslookup www.ivao.aero. Michael |

4 | 10/15/2005 | Supporting Your Virtual Airline |
October 14, 2005 Now you can share financially in supporting Delta Virtual Airlines and Aviation Français Virtuel through a newly created structure, Global Virtual Airlines Group (GVAGroup.org). Many member inquiries are received seeking ways to financially support our airlines. It was decided to provide a structure and orderly means for making, tracking, and recognizing contributions. The development of our new website and the transition to hosted servers was made to eliminate dependence on any individual or group. Members are assured that Aviation Français Virtuel and Delta Virtual Airlines will continue regardless of individuals or management's involvement. The use of hosted services affords dependability, increased capacity, expanded functions and speed. Our membership nearly doubled in size the last year to over 1,000 pilots placing increased demands on an aging system. The related bandwidth demands of over 2 gigabyte daily and 1 million monthly server requests dictated the shift to commercial hosted servers. Hosted services provides us with added reliability, access and features, but it comes an operating cost. The current hosting plan costs US$108 per month or US$1,300 annually. Using a "share" plan we expect to be able to generate funds to pay for the hosting expenses avoiding advertising or corporate dependence. "Shares" are a means for broadly allocating portions to our supporters for the finances needed for a year of operation. There are no assets, dividends associated with the "shares." "Shares" are non-transferable, non-refundable, cannot be traded and expire after one year. "Share" prices are US$10 each. In the first year 130 "shares" will be issued. "Shares" will be issued as broadly as possible. The maximum that one individual may own is 40%. If there is an over subscription, priority will be given based on tenure, in order of hire date. "Share" holders have limited managerial influence on the Aviation Français Virtuel and Delta Virtual Airlines organizations. A majority vote can replace the CEO. "Share" holding Structure is attached. Refer to Shareholder Structure (following) that provides further details about Global Virtual Airlines Group organization and operation. NOTE: "Share" participation is voluntary and is not a requirement for membership. How to acquire "shares:" 1. Send an email to Treasurer@GVAGroup.org stating your desire to support and the US$ amount. 2. The Treasurer will inform you of the number of "shares" that you can purchase. 3. Payment will be in US funds through Paypal or by check. 4. Registration opens October 14, 2005 for 15 days closing October 29, 2005. Direct questions to Info@GVAGroup.org ******************************************************************************** Global Virtual Airlines Group d/b/a GVAGroup.com Shareholding Structure An ownership structure known as Global Virtual Airlines Group was created to provide Delta Virtual Airlines (DVA) and Aviation Français Virtuel (AFV) the financial means to purchase server space and bandwidth. Global Virtual Airlines Group's purpose is to provide the structure that will ensure the continued viability of DVA and AFV and any other Virtual Airlines that it chooses to create or adopt. It will eliminate dependence on any individual or group. The holding group and the airlines DVA and AFV are member-owned and -supported communities that are non-profit, have no physical assets and are managed by volunteers receiving no financial compensation or benefits. 1. Shareholders must be members in good standing with DVA or AFV. Individuals purchasing one or more shares will be considered shareholders. Shares expire one year after issuance. 2. On ownership matters, all shareholders have the right to be consulted and informed, and have one vote per share owned. Shareholders are obligated to act in the best interests of all members of DVA and AFV. 3. The shareholders shall select from their number an individual to be called the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall maintain all records of share ownership, handle all funds collected and disbursed, provide and maintain records of financial transactions and shareholder meetings. 4. Shareholders may elect additional officers when the need arises. 5. Shareholder meetings and voting can occur in person, by teleconference, web conference, email or U.S. Postal. 6. Once a year, the Treasurer shall compile an estimate of the upcoming costs to maintain the virtual airlines for the upcoming year, including but not limited to hosting/bandwidth charges, domain registration and other fees. To this number a contingency amount of not less than 10% shall be added. If a surplus remains from the previous year, this surplus shall be applied against the operating costs and contingency amount. 7. Annually and at the same time, the Treasurer shall determine the number of shares to be issued for the upcoming year. This number shall by divisible by 5 and allow for a share price (which is the total upcoming cost divided by the number of shares) of between US$10 and US$40. The existing shareholders shall then meet to ratify the estimates, share price and share numbers provided by the Treasurer. Ratification requires a double majority of voting shares and voting shareholders. 8. No individual may own more than 40% of all shares, except with the approval of a double majority of all remaining voting shares and shareholders. 9. Each shareholder has the right of first purchase of the same percentage of stock as currently owned or 20%, whichever is lower, within the first 15 days after the announcement of the upcoming year's share price and numbers. Once existing shareholders exercise their rights to first purchase, other members may register as shareholders. All rights of purchase shall automatically expire if payment is not received within 30 days. 10. If demand for available shares exceeds supply, purchase registrations by new shareholders shall be capped at 10% of total stock per person. If demand still exceeds supply, purchase rights shall be allocated on the basis of each member's join date with DVA or AFV. 11. Shareholders have no management duties or rights at DVA or AFV solely based on their status as shareholders (although they may take on management roles), with the exception that shareholders may by majority vote of voting shares replace the CEO at any time. 12. Should the Treasurer in his or her estimation determine that costs shall exceed the amounts raised from the previous sale of shares, the shareholders may authorize the sale of additional shares at the same price. Purchase rights shall be allocated in the same was as the annual sale of shares. 13. All shares are non-refundable and non-transferable, except with the approval of a double majority of three-quarters of all voting shares and a simple majority of shareholders. 14. Luke J. Kolin of Roswell, GA hereby surrenders all existing claims to ownership of DVA and AFV, in return for the first right to purchase up to 40% of the shares in the initial sale and the unrestricted rights to use, copy and/or modify any DVA and AFV intellectual property in existence at the time of this document. Sections 2 and 3 will operate on the basis that Luke J. Kolin owns 100% of the shares until the first shares are allocated and paid for, at which point this section will become inoperative. 3 | 10/04/2005 | Offical ICAO Air France Identifier |
Effective immediately the three letter ICAO code ID for Air France is AFR when flying on the IVAO ATC network.
You are strongly urged to use this identifier when flying official Air France flights on the network so that we are recognized by controllers as being a VA member of the network. This NOTAM supercedes the notice issued yesterday. The reason is due to the fact that if a 'V' is used as in, AFV, our airline comes up as Air Florida. AFR will continue to be used by our airline and shared with that of the France-based Air France virtual airline. |
